Thanks for the help, but I was actually able to fix it on my own after further inspection. It seems that the problem was not with MiniMax itself, but with the rich text editor module contained within MiniMax. Following a suggestion to force-enable paragraph tags, I was able to get around the problem of <p> tags being excluded from the_content().
